In loving memory of Greg Durward

Greg Durward
Gregory William Durward
December 31, 1946 - June 2, 2009

Greg passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 2nd, following a courageous battle with cancer. Greg was surrounded by family and in the loving care of the wonderful staff at Lady Minto Hospital on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.

Greg embraced any challenge and excelled at all that he did. He was junior engineer on Canada's first satellite, Assistant Registrar at the University of Victoria, Professor of Philosophy, inventor/patent holder, CEO of a major fitness products company and most recently Business manager for Heritage Place for Seniors complex on Salt Spring Island. Even more impressively, he won the prestigious father of the year award 37 years in a row.

In his early 50's, Greg discovered archery, which opened up a new world of friends, travel and excitement for life.

Greg, words will not express how much we will miss your wisdom, laughter and enthusiasm. You will be deeply missed by your loving wife Lynne, mother Edith, daughter Kristina, son Jonathan (Julie), grandsons Jeremy and Jason, sister Audrey (Fred) and countless others that have had the privilege of knowing you.

Special thanks to Dr. Ron Reznick for the compassionate and inspiring medical care provided throughout the years, and to Dr. Bob Crossland for the kind support provided to both Greg and his family.

"When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight."
-  Kahlil Gibran

A gathering of Eastern friends and family was held in Waterloo, Ontario on Saturday June 13, 2009 to remember Greg, and on Saturday June 27, there was a wonderful day of shooting and reminiscing at the Victoria Bowmen archery club.

On Sunday August 9th, the Cowichan Bowmen will be putting on a Memorial Shoot for Greg.
